At Firebrand, we offer a large portfolio of residential and online Project Management courses to help you deliver successful projects. Our two most popular Project Management courses are PRINCE2® and PMP®.

PRINCE2® stands for Projects in Controlled Environments. The main two PRINCE2® qualifications are Foundation and Practitioner; you can achieve both in just three days with Firebrand. This is a world exclusive!

The PMP® certification is provided by the Project Management Institute, also known as PMI. The Institute publishes the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK).

What’s the difference between PRINCE2® and PMP®?

PRINCE2® provides a framework and methodology to manage projects, whereas PMP® focuses on the skills and knowledge you need to manage a project through its lifecycle. You would actually benefit from knowing both, providing a more rounded approach to Project Management.

What is the role of a Project Manager in Risk Management?

Project Managers play a critical role in Risk Management. Their responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential risks that could impact the project, which involves brainstorming sessions, consultations with stakeholders, reviewing past projects, and using tools like SWOT analysis;
  • Assessing and analysing risks through Qualitative and Quantitative methods to determine their likelihood of occurring, the potential impact on the project, and the potential numerical impact on the project's cost, schedule, and performance. This involves categorizing risks and prioritizing them based on their severity and the probability of occurrence;
  • Developing Risk Response Strategies such as Risk Mitigation Planning, Risk Avoidance, Risk Transfer, and Risk Acceptance;
  • Monitoring and controlling risks as they arise, which involves regularly updating the risk register, reviewing risk response plans, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed, and implementing contingency plans;
  • Documenting risks and capturing lessons learned after the project is complete – what worked well, what could be improved.
