Getting certified in Cyber Security through CompTIA involves following a structured path that includes selecting the right certification, preparing for the exam, and successfully passing it.
CompTIA offers several well-known Cyber Security certifications, such as:
- CompTIA Security+, which targets entry-level Cyber Security professionals and focuses on core knowledge required for any Cyber Security role (Network Security, compliance and operational security, threats and vulnerabilities, application, data, and host security, access control, and identity management);
- CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), which targets intermediate Cyber Security professionals and focuses on behavioural analytics to improve the overall state of IT security through threat detection and response.
- CompTIA PenTest+, which targets intermediate Cyber Security professionals, particularly those focusing on Penetration Testing, and helps them develop hands-on skills to assess the resiliency of a network against attacks through penetration testing;
- CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), which targets advanced Cyber Security professionals and focuses on advanced skills in enterprise security, risk management, research and analysis, and the integration of computing, communications, and business disciplines.
