What you’ll learn

On this immersive CREST Registered Penetration Tester (CRT) course, you'll advance your skills to penetrate computer systems and networks effectively and professionally, using realistic threat techniques to detect vulnerabilities.


You'll learn to analyse tools and frameworks that are most readily available to hackers seeking to attack an organisation.


At the end of this course, you will be prepared to take the official CREST CRT exam at your own convenience. The exam will not be taken during course delivery.


You will also learn to:

  • Evaluate host-based security products and how those products reduce vulnerability to exploitation

  • Carry out attack and defense operations for the purpose of exercises and vulnerability assessment and detection

  • Demonstrate effective use of current tools and techniques used by industry-qualified cyber security penetration tester

Curriculum

You’ll train across 8 modules:

Module 1 – Core Technical Skills

Module 2 – Background Information Gathering & Open Source

Module 3 – Networking Equipment

Module 4 – Microsoft Windows Security Assessment

Module 5 – Unix Security Assessment

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, you should have achieved the CREST Practitioner Security Analyst | CPSA certification.

You should also have experience in:

● Conducting vulnerability assessments of Windows and Linux operating systems

● Using the command line with Linux and Windows

● Networking and the TCP protocol

● Working in a Red Team/Penetration Testing team

Please note:

● To gain CREST Registered Tester status, you must pass both the CREST Practitioner Security Analyst | CPSA certification and CREST Registered Tester (CRT) exams

● Without a valid CPSA you cannot sit the CRT examination, but you can still attend the training

At the end of this course, you'll prepare for the following exam:

CREST Registered Penetration Tester (CRT) exam

● Duration: 2.5 hours

● Passing score: 90/150 (60%)

● Format: Multiple-choice practical assessment

● An exam voucher is included as part of the course package.

The exam is not taken onsite during the delivery. CREST (CRT) examinations delivered in the UK are held throughout the year and in various locations. For details of upcoming examination dates in the UK, please click here.

To gain CREST Registered Tester status, you must pass both the CREST Practitioner Security Analyst | CPSA certification and CREST Registered Tester (CRT) exams.

You must hold a valid CPSA certification to book and sit the CRT examination. While you may attend CRT training without it, CPSA certification is a mandatory prerequisite for taking the CRT exam.
