Course spotlight — Firebrand Cyber Crime Protect (Cyber Aware)

At Firebrand, we are proud to be the official provider of Cyber Crime Training for police officers and staff throughout the UK appointed by the NPCC National Cyber Crime Programme.

One of the courses we offer is the Firebrand Cyber Crime Protect (Cyber Aware) course. Could it be right for you? Read on.

What is the Firebrand Cyber Crime Protect course?

This accelerated 5-day course helps you develop techniques and principles learned in the Cyber Crime Foundation course, focusing on cyber resilience, infrastructure security, defence and response, and information security.

These skills are vital for officers and staff involved in the Prepare, Protect, Prevent and Pursue strategy deployed by specialist Cyber Crime units.

Who is this course for?

Before attending this course, delegates should have completed a series of College of Policing packages and be actively involved in a law enforcement, MoD, or HMG agency cyber-related unit or investigation team.

Delegates should have also completed the Firebrand Cyber Crime Foundation course or equivalent.

How long does the course take?

At Firebrand, we specialise in accelerated courses. This course takes only 5 days.

Where is the course delivered?

Delegates can take the course at our distraction-free training facility at Wyboston Lakes, Bedfordshire (accommodations & meals included), or online, through instructor-led training.

What will you learn?

The course curriculum is divided into 14 modules:

  1. The Role of Protect
  2. Information Security Principles
  3. Risk Management
  4. Horizon Scanning
  5. Information Security Frameworks
  6. System Life Cycles
  7. Securing the Infrastructure
  8. Procedural and People Security Controls
  9. Technical Security Controls
  10. Physical and Environmental Security Controls
  11. Security Assessment and Audit
  12. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
  13. Cryptography
  14. Available Resources

Does this course include an exam?

Yes. By the end of this accelerated course, delegates will have proven they have the knowledge and skills to support the role of a Protect Officer and understand the responsibilities of security disciplines across an organisation.

They will also be able to sit the British Computer Society (BCS) Foundation Certificate in Information Security Management Principles.

On the last day of the course, those who wish can also take an additional certification, (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity.

Both BCS and (ISC)² certifications are well-known in the IT industry; they demonstrate delegates' level of proficiency in fighting Cyber Crime.
