National Cybercrime Programme appoints Firebrand as official training provider for UK Law Enforcement

The NPCC National Cyber Crime Programme have announced that Firebrand Training will be the official provider of Cyber Crime Training for police officers and staff throughout the UK.

With cybercrime on the rise, these accelerated courses will get officers and staff certified in record time and ready to put their learning and new skills into action as part of the ongoing fight against cybercrime.

Part of the BPP Education Group, Firebrand is the UK’s premier provider of accelerated courses in the field of IT. Their programme of courses specifically designed for NPCC ranges from foundation to investigation and management-level courses.

The courses are available to any police officers and staff who work in dedicated cybercrime roles at force and regional levels and will further enhance the skills and capability of UK law enforcement to prevent and detect cybercrime.

Det Ch Supt Andrew Gould, National Cybercrime Programme lead said: “Cybercrime is not a victimless crime. Our Cyber Crime Units see the real emotional and financial impact successful cyber-attacks have on both individuals and businesses. We must ensure that our police officers and staff have access to the best training possible to enhance their skills, knowledge and capability in preventing and investigating cybercrime. We are looking forward to working with Firebrand to deliver a world-leading training package to further improve the service victims get when they report cybercrime to police."

A UK-based international company, Firebrand has a track record of supporting UK Law Enforcement, Military, Government Agencies, and Ex-forces with its accelerated certification, Apprenticeships, and Government-funded Skills Bootcamps.

Phil Chapman, Head of Cyber Curriculum, said, “We have worked with NPCC to create a programme of courses that give staff the technical skills to prepare, protect and pursue cybercrime and cyber security threats. A range of courses at all skill levels ensures most roles within a local cybercrime unit are provided for. The Firebrand accelerated delivery model allows the police officers to complete the training and immediately get back onto the job and start using their newly learnt skills.”

The training will be rolled out to officers and staff from June 2023.
