Firebrand’s Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship builds practical capability to implement technical, procedural and physical controls to monitor, detect and respond to a wide range of real-world security challenges.
Through hands-on learning, apprentices develop the judgement, instinct and confidence to manage risk, protect data and strengthen security culture across your organisation from day one.
Choose from three distinct pathways to fit your role:
● Cyber Security Engineer: designs, develops and implements security solutions across a network
● Cyber Risk Analyst: assesses, analyses and mitigates cyber-related risk
● Cyber Defender and Responder: configures and monitors security systems and responds to incidents and security breaches
This apprenticeship is for future cyber professionals who want to protect organisations from growing digital threats, applying security knowledge and practical skills across any tech‑driven sector.
Typical job roles include:
● Cyber Operations Manager
● Cyber Risk Analyst
● Security Analyst
● Security Architect
The apprenticeship is delivered by expert instructors with real-world experience, through a blend of residential and live online classroom learning or face-to-face at one of our residential centres – based on our time-tested Lecture-Lab-Review model.
Apprentices also have full access to an e-learning platform that covers all areas of cyber security and over 5,000 courses on other relevant business topics.
To apply for this apprenticeship, the learner must:
● Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or A-levels, a Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship or BTEC in a related subject) or relevant experience, and/or pass an aptitude test
● Not have an existing qualification at the same level or higher than this apprenticeship in a similar subject
STEM subjects would also be beneficial to their application.

o Rationale for Security Objectives
Months 5-8
● Core module: Python Fundamentals
o Ethical Principles Code of Practice
o Laws and Regulations
Months 9-12
● Vendor certification: CompTIA Network+
● Vendor certification: CompTIA Security+
o Preventing Security Breaches and Continuous Improvement
o Following Organisations’ Policies and Procedures
Months 13-20
● Vendor certification: EC-Council Certified Network Defender
o Operation of Security Management Systems and Incident Response
Months 21-14
● End-point assessment (EPA)
Assessment
All Firebrand apprenticeships conclude with an end-point assessment (EPA), completed by the End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), to evaluate the work produced during the programme.

For the Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship, the EPA consists of:
● A professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
● Four scenario demonstrations with questioning
● A project report
● A knowledge test
Industry certifications (optional)
On successful completion of the programme, learners will have the opportunity to achieve the following industry-recognised qualifications:
● EC-Council Certified Network Defender (CND)

To do so, learners will be required to sit an exam. Certification exams are optional and not required to pass the apprenticeship. One exam attempt per certification is included at no extra cost.
