6. A decision was taken to build a dedicated Training Centre in Nairobi.

After you were appointed as the PM and the Project Sponsor also appointed your initial team which you have with you, you held a planning workshop with your team during which you identified the following:

There is a suitable 15 acre site in north east Nairobi
A site survey was carried out which showed that all aspects of the Training Centre could be built there
The appropriate planning and building permissions will need to be obtained
This site is 5 miles away from the closest A road and motorway and a connecting tarmac road will need to be incorporated in the project
Due to uncertain local political situation it will be necessary to include purpose built accommodation for the training centre management, training and support staff, and a core of 15 security personnel who will provide 24 hour site coverage. Please note – guard dogs are excluded because of the very high local cost of dog food
The Board have already approved the £1.5m and given authority to the Project Sponsor for it’s commitment to the project
A deadline has been set for 9 months from today for it to be up and running
