Overview

On this accelerated Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) Advanced Network Operations Specialist course, you will learn how to select and deploy NGFW appliances and interface modules, and how to connect the appliances to the Security Management Center. You will develop expertise in dynamic routing, upgrading various NGFW components, and configuring route-based VPNs. You will work with SMC domains, virtual contexts, and the Web Portal, and acquire the skills to successfully troubleshoot various NGFW setups. This course consists of six milestones. Each milestone presents you with real-world scenarios and hands-on labs that help put your knowledge of the Forcepoint NGFW into practice.

By the end of this course, you will successfully be able to:

  • Describe the NGFW appliance portfolio.
  • Provide an overview of NGFW appliances.
  • Identify different types of network interface modules.
  • Identify different types of NGFW software platforms.
  • Provide an overview of NGFW virtualization.
  • Provide an overview of the SMC appliance.
  • Perform an upgrade of the SMC Management and Log services.
  • Upgrade the NGFW engine.
  • Upgrade the Dynamic Upgrade package to keep deep inspection accuracy up to date.
  • Deploy and configure the Web Portal.
  • Configure SMC domains.
  • Deploy and configure NGFW virtual firewalls.
  • Configure a route-based VPN.
  • Configure Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing.
  • Configure Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing.
  • Follow generic troubleshooting steps.
  • Collect the required troubleshooting information

Milestone 2: NGFW Deployment

  • Describe the NGFW appliance portfolio.
  • Provide an overview of NGFW appliances.
  • Identify different types of network interface modules.
  • Identify different types of NGFW software platforms.
  • Provide an overview of the NGFW virtual appliance.
  • List different types of hypervisors that support NGFW appliances.
  • Explain NGFW native virtualization and limitations.
  • Provide an overview of the SMC appliance.

 

Milestone 3: SMC, NGFW, and Dynamic Update Package Upgrades

  • Perform an upgrade of the SMC Management and Log services.
  • Upgrade the NGFW engine.
  • Upgrade the Dynamic Upgrade package to keep deep inspection accuracy up to date.

 

Milestone 4: Multi-tenant Features

  • Deploy and configure the Web Portal.
  • Configure SMC domains.
  • Deploy and configure NGFW virtual firewalls.

 

Milestone 5: Route-based VPN

  • Identify differences between site-to-site and route-based VPNs.
  • Configure a route-based VPN. Explain NAT differences between site-to-site and route-based VPNs.

 

Milestone 6: Dynamic Routing

  • Explain how dynamic routing can be configured on the Forcepoint NGFW.
  • Configure Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing.
  • Configure Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing.

 

Milestone 7: Troubleshooting

  • Follow generic troubleshooting steps.
  • Collect accurate problem descriptions.
  • Determine what information you need to collect for further troubleshooting.
  • Collect the required information.

Exam Track

At the end of this accelerated course, you’ll achieve your Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) Advanced Network Operations Specialist Certification.
