Could a career in Data be for you? Let's take a look at the top Data courses to add to your CV in 2026.
1. CompTIA Data+
The Data+ certification designed by the Computing Technology Industry Association, also known as CompTIA, is an excellent starting point for anyone wishing to be certified in Data.
This comprehensive course helps you develop the skills to manipulate data to drive informed decision-making for your employer. The course encompasses 5 modules, from Data Concepts and Environments, Data Mining, and Data Analysis, to Visualisation and Data Governance, Quality, and Controls, and is also vendor-neutral, which means that you can apply what you learn on any tech stack you may encounter at work.
Passing your official Data+ certification exam can then help you explore more specific Data Science qualifications, such as the second and third ones on our list.
2. Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)
No conversation about Data Science is complete without mentioning AI. This widely respected course is ideal for those with knowledge of Microsoft Azure, REST-based APIs, and either C# or Python and who would like to step into the fascinating world of AI engineering.
This course teaches you to implement solutions that use Cognitive Services and Bots in Microsoft Azure; by the end of the course, you will learn to create, manage, and deploy an Azure AI service, process speech, videos, and text, build and manage a language understanding model, build a conversational bot, and more, and you'll be able to pass Microsoft's official AI-102 exam and become certified.
3. BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Management Essentials
Similar to the CompTIA course described at number 1, this course created by BCS, the British Computer Society, blends knowledge and hands-on practice to help you develop crucial data management skills.
In just two days, this course helps you understand what is required for the administration of data and databases, how to develop business data procedures, how to employ data analysis and privacy, security and recovery procedures, and much more. Upon passing your exam, you also receive a free one-year Professional BCS Membership and, what's more, there are no prerequisites to attend.
4. Microsoft Azure Data Scientist Associate (DP-100)
At number 4, let's take a look at the Microsoft Azure Data Scientist Associate, also known as DP-100. Due to the prevalence of Microsoft tech stacks across all sectors, this Azure Data Scientist certification is a must if you're in the ecosystem.
This intensive course teaches you to design and implement Data Science solutions on Microsoft Azure. You will learn to refine your data modelling and feature engineering skills, as well as apply Azure's Machine Learning methods to manipulate and analyse key data.
Study modules include No-Code Machine Learning with Designer, Computing Contexts, Training, Deploying, and Interpreting Models, Running Experiments, and more.
Before taking this course, you should have technical knowledge equivalent to the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification (AZ-900).
5. CompTIA DataX
If you have expert-level Data Science skills, CompTIA DataX is a vendor-neutral certification that can validate them at an international level.
Introduced in summer 2024, this course covers Modeling, Analysis, and Operations, as well as applying Machine Learning (ML) models and Deep Learning (DL) concepts. The course also delves into mathematical and statistical methods, including statistical modelling, linear algebra, and calculus.
At Firebrand, this course is taught in a technology-neutral manner that makes it applicable to various tech stacks. There are no official prerequisites to attend this accelerated course; however, to make the most of it, we recommend you have at least 5 years of experience in Data Science or similar roles.
6. Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
Formerly known as Microsoft Data Analyst Associate (exam code DA-100), after 2021, this Microsoft course was renamed to reflect its focus on Power BI.
Microsoft Power BI is an excellent tool that turns unrelated sources of data into coherent, visually immersive, and interactive insights. By taking this course, you'll learn to boost the value of your employer's big data—you will design and build scalable data models, clean and transform data, enable advanced analytics, and more.
This course is ideal for professionals who know how to work with relational and non-relational data in the cloud, as well as core concepts about data analysis and visualisation.
At Firebrand, we were awarded the Microsoft Solutions Partner for Business Applications and Data & AI badges in recognition of our expertise, so your training is in good hands!
7. Microsoft: Prepare and Visualize Data with Microsoft Power BI (DP-605)
If you need to be certified for Power BI but would prefer a more specialised, hands-on course, instead of taking PL-300, discussed above, you could focus on building dynamic reports with DP-605.
The course helps you understand how to gather data from various cloud systems and create dynamic dashboards to monitor key business metrics and produce insightful data analysis. This course covers key Power BI concepts as well as an introduction to end-to-end analytics using Microsoft Fabric and using Copilot to create interactive reports.
This course is designed for intermediate-level Data Analysts, but can also be taken by other professionals wishing to refine this skillset. The course does not have an exam.
8. Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)
This course replaced the Microsoft DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer Associate), which retired last year. DP-700 focuses on Microsoft Fabric, shifting from the pure Azure Synapse platform of DP-203 to a unified AI-powered analytics platform.
This course teaches you to design and develop effective data loading patterns, data architectures, and orchestration processes. You'll also delve into building Lakehouses and Data Warehouses, using Data Factory pipelines, Spark, KQL, and implementing Real-Time, as well as security and governance issues. If you want to certify your skills in using Microsoft Fabric for enterprise-scale data analytics, this is the course for you.
DP-700 is suited to those with knowledge in data processing languages such as SQL, PySpark, or KQL. Upon completion, you can take the official Microsoft DP-700 exam to become certified.
