Overview
This accelerated Certified Kubernetes Application Developer course, certifies that users can design, build, configure, and expose cloud native applications for Kubernetes.
The certification program allows users to demonstrate their competence in a hands-on, command-line environment. The purpose of the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) program is to provide assurance that CKADs have the skills, knowledge, and competency to perform the responsibilities of Kubernetes application developers.
In just 4 days, you’ll be competent at:
- Working with (OCI-compliant) container images
- Applying Cloud Native application concepts and architectures
- Working with and validating Kubernetes resource definitions
At the end of this course, you’ll sit the Cloud Native Computing exam, and achieve your Certified Kubernetes Application Developer certification. - Understand multi-container Pod design patterns (e.g. sidecar, init and others)
- Utilize persistent and ephemeral volumes

- Use Kubernetes primitives to implement common deployment strategies (e.g. blue/ green or canary)
- Understand Deployments and how to perform rolling updates
- Use the Helm package manager to deploy existing packages
- Module 3: Application observability and maintenance
- Understand API deprecations
- Implement probes and health checks
- Use provided tools to monitor Kubernetes applications
- Utilize container logs
- Debugging in Kubernetes
- Module 4: Application Environment, Configuration and Security
- Discover and use resources that extend Kubernetes (CRD)
- Understand authentication, authorization and admission control
- Understanding and defining resource requirements, limits and quotas
- Understand ConfigMaps
- Create & consume Secrets
- Understand ServiceAccounts
- Understand SecurityContexts
- Module 5: Services & Networking
- Demonstrate basic understanding of NetworkPolicies
- Provide and troubleshoot access to applications via services
- Use Ingress rules to expose applications

At the end of this accelerated course, you’ll sit the following exam at the Firebrand Training centre, covered Certification Guarantee:

- Format: online, proctored, performance-based test consists of a set of performance-based items (problems) to be solved in a command line
- Passing score: 66% or more
