Top Microsoft Cyber Security courses for 2025

Which one is right for you? Let's take a look.

If you're considering Cyber Security training in 2025, achieving a Microsoft certification is a wise choice.

There are many reasons why:

  • Microsoft is used everywhere
  • Microsoft certifications are globally recognised
  • Microsoft certifications align closely to job roles
  • Microsoft certifications cover end-to-end security solutions such as Microsoft Defender, Azure Sentinel, and Intune
  • Microsoft Azure is one of the world's leading Cloud platforms. In turn, Azure certifications focus on securing hybrid and cloud-first infrastructures, which is a must in today's tech landscape
  • Last but not least, Microsoft is at the forefront of AI development, which impacts the range of cyber threats as well as incident response techniques.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the top 3 Microsoft Cyber Security certifications to consider in 2025.

1. Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)

This excellent course equips you with knowledge about Cyber Security, Cyber Security as applied to Microsoft Azure (which links to AI), as well as AI itself.

The course takes you through developing AI solutions on Azure, creating & monitoring Cognitive Services, building a Language Understanding Model, building bots with the Bot Framework SDK, configuring Azure Cognitive Search, and much more.

Before attending, you need to know either C# or Python, be familiar with JSON and REST, and be able to navigate the Azure portal. At the end of the course, you can sit the official AI-102 exam and return to work certified.

At Firebrand, this course takes only 3 days. You can take it at our distraction-free facilities or online, through live instructor-led training. See the full spec.

2. Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)

On the other hand, if you'd like to specialise in Cyber Security for the Azure Cloud environment, AZ-500 is a very useful certification to achieve.

The course delves into securing Microsoft Azure environments with a focus on identity and access management, platform protection, security operations, securing data, and securing applications within Azure.

Before attempting this course, you should have experience in deploying Azure workloads and understand Cyber Security concepts such as Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Internet Security Protocol (IPSec), Secure Socket Layer (SSL), disk and data encryption methods, Role-based access control (RBAC), Multi-factor authentication (MFA), and more.

If you've taken Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), AZ-500 is an excellent follow-up. At Firebrand, AZ-500 takes only 3 days and can be taken in a physical classroom or online, through live instructor-led training. Find out more.

3. Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect (SC-100)

If you've already achieved AZ-500, you can follow up with Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100). This course helps you develop the skills and knowledge you need to design a comprehensive, end-to-end Cyber Security strategy for a company, which is very useful for senior-level, strategic Cyber Security roles.

This course takes you through building a security architecture, identity management, securing hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, security operations strategy, and more.

To take this course, you need to achieve either AZ-500 (See number 2), SC-300 (Identity and Access Administrator Associate), or SC-200 (Security Operations Analyst Associate) first. At Firebrand, you can take SC-200 and SC-100 together in a six-day accelerated combined course that ends with taking both official exams and becoming a Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert.
