Half of UK businesses have Cyber Security skills gap, Government report finds

The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology recently published their 2023 report on the UK Cyber Security labour market.

The research explores the current IT skills gap in Cyber Security, skills shortages, as well as Cyber Specialisms and careers.

According to this research,

  • 50% of all UK businesses have a basic Cyber Security skills gap, while 33% have an advanced cyber security skills gap
  • in 2022, there were 160,035 Cyber Security job postings, an increase of 30% over 2021
  • the slow growth of the sector has led to an estimated shortfall of 11,200 people to meet the demand of the cyber workforce
