Overview

The accelerated Cyber Protect for Business course, is predominantly aimed at Small-Medium Enterprises (SME), including schools, colleges and other organisations who require core cyber security knowledge and skills to enhance their defence capability and protect their business. This course is intended to be a generalist cyber security professional with a focus on information security, infrastructure security and incident response.

It also includes a series of exercises and demonstrations which will assist the learner in cementing their knowledge.

Advice and guidance is also given in the form of official guidance for SMEs and other resources which will assist in the protection of a small business.

The course uses the BCS Certified Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) syllabus as a guide, however this course contains additional modules that go beyond the CISMP exam objectives.

The CISMP exam is included in the course.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Information Security Management Principles in the following areas:

• Information Security Management and Frameworks
• Cyber Security Risk
• System and Software Development Lifecycles
• Risk controls
• Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
• Defence and Response
• Employment of Cryptography
• Use of online advice and guidance resources
• Knowledge of the concepts relating to information security management (confidentiality, integrity, availability, vulnerability, threats, risks, countermeasures)
• Understanding of the relevant current legislation and regulations which impact upon information security management
• Comprehension of the relevant current national and international standards, frameworks and organisations which facilitate the management of information security.
• Knowledge of the environments in which information security management has to operate.
• Understanding of the categorisation, operation and effectiveness of controls of different types and characteristic.

At the end of this course, you’ll sit the BCS Foundation Certificate in Information Security Management Principles Exam, and achieve your BCS Foundation Certificate in Information Security Management Principles Certification.
