I've always had an interest in computing and IT since a young age but this job was my first IT role. I worked with this company for a few years before undertaking the three courses I have done. I enjoy computing at home in my spare time and helping friends/family with any issues or questions they have.
I enjoy building computers and helping set them up, I like it when all the components come together and you get something you are really happy with. My previous roles before working in IT weren't related to computing at all and I decided to make the career change whilst there was an opportunity for me to do so.
I chose to do an apprenticeship with Firebrand due to the price and fact that they were accelerated courses. The CompTIA A+ was chosen as it was a basic introduction to computing hardware and was a good foundation to start.
I did the CompTIA Network+ course because it ties well into my role at the company and CompTIA Security+ was an option I had but found this a very interesting course to take and study for. The skills I have learnt on the courses have set me in good stead for everyday work at the company and I am building on that knowledge all the time.
I don't think I've found my 'niche' in IT yet, I want to learn it all! I really enjoyed the security side of things and would love to work more in that field but we shall see, I enjoy all parts of IT so I'm open to exploring all the options and learning as much as possible.
