Interesting read — What can Copilot users teach us about Generative AI?

In early 2023, Microsoft introduced Copilot for Microsoft 365.

Using a combination of surveys and experiments, Microsoft have been researching the impact of Copilot's generative AI so they can learn alongside their customers while scaling this product.

Here are 6 findings from the Work Trend Index Special Report that caught our eye.

1. Copilot makes users 29% faster.

Overall, Copilot users report being 29% faster in a series of tasks such as searching, writing, and summarizing.

2. 68% said it improved the quality of their work.

68% said Copilot helped them jumpstart the creative process, while 72% said it helped them generate ideas while writing.

3. 70% said they were more productive.

Increased productivity came across in a number of ways, from users reporting they can get caught up on a meeting nearly 4 times faster to 75% using Copilot to retrieve files. 

4. 85% said Copilot helps them write.

85% reported Copilot helps them get to a good first draft faster. A blind panel rated emails written with Copilot as 18% clearer and 19% more concise.

5. Copilot saves time.

Depending on their job spec, everyone can save time at work. On average, Copilot for Sales users reported saving 90 minutes a week, whilst agents spent 12% less time solving a case with Copilot in Dynamics
365 Customer Service.

6. 77% don't want to give Copilot up.

77% of users said that, once they've used Copilot, they didn’t want to give it up.
