IT Technical Salespeople are confident, natural communicators and good listeners; they keep on top of the latest industry news and they genuinely want to solve problems for their clients by pitching the right product.

Depending on the size of the company and the industry, IT Technical Salespeople can work within wider sales teams and with other departments such as Marketing and Business Development. 

 

What does an IT Technical Salesperson do?

On average, key job responsibilities for IT Technical Salespeople may include:

• Supporting unit sales plans through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting
• Developing relationships with new prospects and existing leads
• Answering sales inquiries and conducting sales calls and follow-ups
• Providing technical advice, specifications, product quotes
• Staying up-to-date with technology news, products, trends
• Conducting sales administration tasks including processing orders
• Maintaining existing customer relationships to encourage repeat purchases

What is the Firebrand IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship like?

We were the first Apprenticeship provider to adopt the new Digital Standards and, three years ago, we became the first training provider to be inducted into the WorldSkills UK Excellence programmes.

Our Level 3 IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship takes 16 months, 13 months for practical followed by a 3-month EPA.

The programme trains apprentices to sell technical products and services and helps them understand existing and emerging technologies in-depth, as well as the components of infrastructure and how they are developed, installed, secured, and maintained.

Our programme is taught through a blended framework of residential and online learning. Throughout the programme, learners are supported by Learning Mentors (from Firebrand as well as at their workplace) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience in IT.

As part of our programme, learners have the opportunity to gain industry-recognised certifications such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ and CIW Internet Business Associate. These certifications attest their competence and help them stand out from their peers.
