Use your free Microsoft training vouchers

You may be entitled to heavily-discounted training via Microsoft's Software Assurance Training Voucher (SATV) scheme. Benefits of MCTS certification

  • An MCTS certification highlights your areas of expertise, so that your skills and knowledge stand out to hiring managers and project leads
  • By earning multiple MCTS certifications, you can demonstrate your breadth of knowledge of Visual Studio 2008. You can also build on your MCTS certifications to earn a Professional Series credential
  • MCTS certification grants you access to the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) community and benefits, including a personal profile on Microsoft.com and access to the Microsoft Knowledge Base

Benefits of IT certification

For IT managers, certification is particularly important because it allows them to more easily identify the skills that an individual possesses. When a company has employees that possess certain skills, it can garner a competitive advantage when seeking to attract customers. Certification can also contribute to increased productivity, because studies have shown that certified individuals are generally quicker to implement and design new technologies. And of course by knowing that their employees are certified, IT managers can feel more confident about their ability to implement and support a network infrastructure.

Other accelerated training providers rely heavily on lecture and independent self-testing and study.

Effective technical instruction must be highly varied and interactive to keep attention levels high, promote camaraderie and teamwork between the students and instructor, and solidify knowledge through hands-on learning.

Firebrand Training provides instruction to meet every learning need:

  • Intensive group instruction
  • One-on-one instruction attention
  • Hands-on labs
  • Lab partner and group exercises
  • Question and answer drills
  • Independent study

This information has been provided as a helpful tool for candidates considering training. Courses that include certification come with a Certification Guarantee. Pass first time or train again for free (just pay for accommodation, exams and incidental costs). We do not make any guarantees about personal successes or benefits of obtaining certification. Benefits of certification determined through studies do not guarantee any particular personal successes.

"This has been my second "go" at this course, and so far I've exceeded my previous results. This has been down to my excellent tutor. "
A.D, Agresso UK. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (23/8/2010 to 31/8/2010)

"Put in as much preparation as you can before you arrive as there is no time wasted once you arrive! Our tutor did an excellent job of ensuring the long hours and intense effort put in was rewarded. Make sure you are confident you cover the course prerequisites - there is no time to cover any gaps outside of the curriculum."
Juston Buchanan, PrimS Limited. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (15/2/2010 to 23/2/2010)

"The course was very well planned but extremely intensive but no matter what your experience and current role, I am sure you will gain some valuable knowledge."
Philip Hoy, developer. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (17/8/2009 to 25/8/2009)

"This is the second course I have taken with Firebrand and while the facilities of the training centre this year are of a lower standard than those last year, thankfully the teaching standards have maintained the same high level. Also as previously, the Firebrand staff are helpful and courteous -provided you are prepared to put the hard work in, they provide all the necessary help to learn and understand the course material!"
David Lowe, genes reunited. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (4/5/2009 to 12/5/2009)

"If you want to feel tired, out of your depth and yet learn a lot and maybe pass an exam this is the course for you. If, like me, you want a strong chance to pass, don't come on the course until you have done some sample exams remotely and picked up the books that will be used on the course. Then make a decision as to whether you are ready. The sales staff do not understand the subjects and should not be relied upon to make a judgement about course attendance. "
Andrew Morrell, www.tsprojects.co.uk (I am a contractor). - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (23/3/2009 to 31/3/2009)

"The most technically challenging and rewarding course I have been on to date - even after 20 years in the industry! The Firebrand Training instructor clearly knew his stuff inside and out. Not only a master of the technology but matched with real world experience. This helped enormously in the explaination of topics and how they "actually" work! Thoroughly enjoyable!!!"
Steve Mays, NATOLI Consulting. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (23/3/2009 to 31/3/2009)

"Excellent course for those who have experience with the technologies and want to earn a certification; a good course for those who don't."
T.R. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (23/3/2009 to 31/3/2009)

"Many thanks to Firebrand Training and especially the instructor, as I would have never got through the material and taken the exams. Now I am a qualified MCTS in ASP.NET 3.5, and ADO.NET 3.5. One thing to note - this is not a picnic, be prepared to work hard and put the hours in."
Richard Tappenden, Education Direct Ltd. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (27/10/2008 to 4/11/2008)

"The course was very tough but I felt that our instructor covered all of the material in a very effective and easy to pick up way and held the interest of the class throughout the course. I feel that I have greatly improved my knowledge of the .net framework and would recommend Firebrand Training to anyone considering tackling the Microsoft Exams. "
Guy Wilson, Education Direct. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (27/10/2008 to 4/11/2008)

Stephen Brown. - Microsoft MCTS .NET 3.5 Web and Data Applications (9 days) (27/10/2008 to 4/11/2008)

He clearly has great experience in Azure, and was able to support the course with real-life war-stories which brought the course to life. My only criticism is that I would have liked to see more time devoted to the labs, but that was probably hard given the material that was covered. I am looking forward to using the knowledge I gained in the course soon. I really like the immersive nature of the training, with the hotel and restaurant only being two minutes away. 24 hour access was a good idea. The accommodation and food were very good. "
