Dublin Tech Summit

Event recap — AI and Quantum Computing dominate Dublin Tech Summit

The 7th and largest-ever edition of the Dublin Tech Summit took place this week at the Royal Dublin Society; AI and Quantum Computing dominated the event.

Held in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, Dogpatch Labs, Women in AI, and Tech Ireland, the event attracted more than 8,000 tech enthusiasts. Highlights were exhibits from more than 150 start-ups (especially in Cyber Security and Cloud), pitch competitions, and inspiring talks from major players like OpenAI, Oculus, Google Deepmind, EY, and Microsoft to NASA, UNICEF,  Mbryonics, Tik Tok, and the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN.

The event showcased the work of Irish innovators such as Equal1, Everseen, Provisio, and CitySwift and hosted Dublin’s regional final for the Startup World Cup, the world’s largest international pitch competition. The next stage will be held in Silicon Valley; the prize is $1 million in investment funds.

Companies came from more than 60 countries, including Italy, Pakistan, and Hong Kong, to showcase their offering for the Western market, hoping to secure investment, especially in the field of Quantum Computing.

According to The Currency, “Quantum Computing is gathering more and more attention from investors as the tech is tipped to reach a new inflexion point in its development that could shake up industries, much like the way AI has.”

Speaking of AI, Dara Calleary, Ireland's Minister for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, stressed the need for sustainable growth and leaving no one behind this technological revolution, citing the Government's plans to have 75% of enterprises in Ireland use Cloud, AI, and Data Analytics by 2030.

“We have to bring people with us on this journey,” Minister Calleary said.
