This accelerated Essentials for PMO Directors course, which will provide you with the fundamental knowledge and skills you need to be an effective PMO Director. It is designed especially for those who are new to this role or aspire to be a PMO Director – to explain what is expected of you and provide you with simple tools to use in your day-to-day role.

The PMO Director, is responsible for overseeing all the PMOs within an organisation and ensuring these PMOs are delivering on this potential and aligning change to the organisation’s strategic goals.

This course will outline the key knowledge, skills, behaviours and competences you need to excel in this critical role. The PMO Director role is an executive role, often referred to as the Head of PMO, Head of Project Management or a Portfolio Director.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to demonstrate:

Essentials for PMO Directors

What the role of the PMO Director is and the context which the PMO Director works in, including:
How PMOs support project, programme and portfolio management activity
What type of PMO is appropriate, depending on the complexity of the projects and programmes being delivered and the portfolio being managed
The four key roles within a PMO The competences required to successfully undertake the role of a PMO Director - including delivery support, capacity management, capability development, assurance and governance.

Exam Track

At the end of this accelerated course, you’ll sit the following exam at the Firebrand Training centre, covered by your Certification Guarantee:

Duration: 60 minute exam
Format: 50 questions; Complex multiple-choice; Closed book
Passing score: 50% pass mark (25 correct questions)

The validity period for all APMG exams will be limited to 12 months from the booking date. Requests to reschedule within this period will be accepted in the usual way, but extensions beyond this period will not be possible.

Prerequisites

Before attending this accelerated course, you will need practitioner level knowledge of projects, programmes or portfolios – any formally recognised Project Management certification or the appropriate level of practical experience will be accepted.

Essentials for PMO Manager
A Practitioner certificate in either P3O®, PRINCE2®, PRAXIS Framework™, AgilePM®, MSP®, MoP, PRINCE2 Agile, APM PFQ, PMQ, PM4SD™, PMP®, PgMP®, or CAPM or equivalent
3 years’ experience of working within a PMO, project, programme or portfolio environment
