Overview

The accelerated APMG International Better Business Cases™ Foundation & Practitioner course is provided in conjunction with Creative Consulting and Training Ltd, an APMG accredited training organisation and is based on the ‘Five Case Model’ – the UK government’s best practice approach to developing spending proposals and enabling effective business decisions.

On this course you will cover how to ensure proposals accurately scope and initiatives and secure management support and funding and how to create effective business cases and spending proposals that are critical to securing funding and management buy-in.

In just 4 days, you’ll learn understand and apply the philosophy of the Five Case Model to business cases and other spending proposals. You’ll also learn how to:

Understand different types of business cases, their purpose, who is responsible for them and when they are required
Understand the development lifecycle of a business case and the relationships between the five cases
Develop effective business cases and spending proposals that appropriately scope the initiative and secure funding and management support

At the end of this course, you’ll sit the APMG exam, and achieve your Better Business Cases™ Foundation & Practitioner certification. Through Firebrand’s Lecture | Lab | Review methodology, you’ll get certified at twice the speed of the traditional training and get access to courseware, learn from certified instructors, and train in a distraction-free environment.

Successful candidates will be entitled to a free Professional Assessment at Business Agility Professional Level 1 – Explorer.

Curriculum

Module 1: The philosophy and underlying rationale of the Five Case Model.
Module 2: The different types of business case, their purpose, who is responsible for them and when they are required in the development of a spending proposal.
Module 3: The development of the business case in relation to other recognized and recommended best practice for programme and project management.
Module 4: The development lifecycle of a business case and the relationships between the five cases.
Module 5: How to apply the steps in the business case development framework, in order to support the production of a business case, using the Five Case Model, for a given scenario.

Exam Track

At the end of this accelerated course, you’ll sit the following exam at the Firebrand Training centre, covered Certification Guarantee:

Better Business Cases™ Foundation & Practitioner exam

Foundation:
- Duration: 40 minutes
- Format: Multiple Choice, Closed book
- Number of questions: 50 questions
- Passing score: 25 marks or more required to pass (out of 50 available) - 50%
Practitioner:
- Duration: 2 ½ hours
- Format: Objective testing, Open book exam
- Number of questions: 4 questions per paper, with 20 marks available per question
- Passing score: 40 marks or more required to pass (out of 80 available) - 50%
