Did IT at college, but I'm mostly self taught in IT, was asked to support age 12 by my teachers when the printers jammed! I've since done IT support for two Christian charities, two software developers, various schools and a car leasing company. I guess like many IT people I enjoy puzzles and technical challenges, but I'm also a team player and like to share and bounce ideas off the rest of my department and peers....

I needed to get understanding of servers, storage and networking, Firebrand has helped me move into new opportunities and understand Server 2012 and its most critical aspects like Domain Controllers and Active Directory. 2012 is a big step up from 2008 and earlier there masses more value in it, especially from Hyper-V and PowerShell.

After gaining understanding of servers and recently working for a couple of MSPs, where I had ownership of managing a whole IT infrastructure for a school, I'm exploring SQL and becoming a database administrator. I've been involved with audits of IT equipment, and since doing part of manually and running scripts to pick up lists of equipment dump it in Excel and tweaking columns and pushing the results into a database, I'm seeking to get better understanding of databases and learning how you can automate some of the tedious bits.
