This accelerated Certified Kubernetes Application Developer course certifies that users can design, build, configure, and expose Cloud Native applications for Kubernetes.

This programme allows users to demonstrate their competence in a hands-on, command-line environment, proving that CKADs have the skills, knowledge, and competency to perform the responsibilities of Kubernetes Application Developers.

In just 3 days, this course helps you develop the skills to:

• Work with (OCI-compliant) container images
• Apply Cloud Native application concepts and architectures
• Work with and validate Kubernetes resource definitions

At the end of this course, you’ll sit the official Cloud Native Computing exam and achieve your Certified Kubernetes Application Developer certification.

Audience

This course is ideal for Kubernetes Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and other IT professionals responsible for building, deploying, and configuring Cloud Native applications with Kubernetes.

1. Application Design and Build (20%)

• Define, build and modify container images
• Choose and use the right workload resource (Deployment, DaemonSet, CronJob, etc.)
• Understand multi-container Pod design patterns (e.g. sidecar, init and others)
• Utilize persistent and ephemeral volumes

2. Application Deployment (20%)

• Use Kubernetes primitives to implement common deployment strategies (e.g. blue/green or canary)
• Understand Deployments and how to perform rolling updates
• Use the Helm package manager to deploy existing packages
  Kustomize

3. Application Observability and Maintenance (15%)

• Understand API deprecations
• Implement probes and health checks
• Use built-in CLI tools to monitor Kubernetes applications
• Utilize container logs
• Debugging in Kubernetes

4. Application Environment, Configuration and Security (25%)

• Discover and use resources that extend Kubernetes (CRD, Operators)
• Understand authentication, authorization and admission control
• Understand requests, limits, quotas
• Understand ConfigMaps
• Define resource requirements
• Create & consume Secrets
• Understand ServiceAccounts
• Understand Application Security (SecurityContexts, Capabilities, etc.)

5. Services and Networking (20%)

• Demonstrate basic understanding of NetworkPolicies
• Provide and troubleshoot access to applications via services
• Use Ingress rules to expose applications

At the end of this accelerated course, you’ll sit the following exam at the Firebrand Training Centre, covered by our Certification Guarantee:

• Duration: 2 Hours
• Format: online, proctored, performance-based test consisting of a set of performance-based items (problems) to be solved in a command line
• Passing score: 66% or more
