Interviews with our colleagues — Firebrand DACH supports Stiftung Bildung
Earlier this month, our colleagues from Firebrand DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) decided to donate €2,500 to Stiftung Bildung, a non-governmental organization in Berlin, Germany. Stiftung Bildung (Education Foundation) helps strengthen the range of educational opportunities at day care centres and schools, giving young people a better start in life.
How did this all come about? We asked our Managing Director for the region, Daniel Krüger and our Group Finance Director, Gordon MacLeod to share their thoughts.
“We came across Stiftung Bildung while researching a charity campaign for the summer,” Daniel said. “Care is one of our core values at Firebrand; it means looking after, helping, and supporting those in need, which is why every year we ask our employees to get involved in social projects.”
Why Stiftung Bildung?
I find their approach to education really appealing, partly because I see parallels with our corporate goals. Education is an active, complex, continuous process that helps people become independent and self-reliant. The foundation for education is laid at a young age, so it is essential that all children have access to education in kindergartens and schools. This way, we support the workforce of tomorrow.
What do you particularly like about Stiftung Bildung?
I really like that they do not work with a rigid program – rather, they support people who are committed to their day-care centres and schools and help them develop ideas and projects. This is particularly important because, at Firebrand, we know from experience how individual education can be and that there is not just one path to success.
Gordon, is Firebrand involved in any other way?
Our company is involved with various non-profit causes and organizations. It is important to us to make a social contribution and to work sustainably, equitably and responsibly. A good example is our annual motto for Quarter 3: "Charity," when we encourage Firebrand employees to get involved with aid organizations during working hours.
Why do you think the education of young people is so important?
It starts with the issue of equal opportunities and extends to potential future employees, customers or an improvement in society in general. We are able to shape the future through our youth and should make good use of this opportunity with the help of a good education.
Why did you decide to make this donation public?
We would like to draw people’s attention to Stiftung Bildung and inform as many people as possible about their work. Quality education is in high demand; therefore, we would like to make a contribution to support this. Every donation, regardless of the amount, is a valuable contribution to the future of our society.
Thank you to everyone who has made donating to Stiftung Bildung possible. Frohe Weihnachten! Merry Christmas!
