AI careers to pursue in 2023

AI is set to create more than 97 million new jobs by 2025

From self-driving vehicles to robotic assistants and virtual teachers, artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing our daily lives.

The growth in AI has boosted demand for skilled AI professionals across all types of industries, as companies seek to uncover the wealth of opportunities provided by this new technology. According to The World Forum, AI will create more than 97 million new jobs by 2025.

But which AI related jobs will be the most sought-after by employers going into the next year? Let’s take a look.

Research Scientist

Research Scientists need to have a strong grasp of numerous disciplines, including mathematics, machine learning, statistics, and deep learning. Employers generally prefer to hire individuals with extensive experience in graphical models, computer perception, AI, and natural language processing.

Data Scientist

Data Scientists deal with huge, complex datasets using both machine learning and predictive analytics. They need to be able to interpret data effectively and execute tactics for developing AI models and protocols. Data scientists can also use the information provided by data researchers to fix bugs and make technology more effective.

Key skills include fluency in programming languages such as Python and an understanding of the algorithms and frameworks required to build AI models. Data scientists require good communication skills too, since they usually work in teams.

AI Engineer

AI Engineers build software products for AI applications. They combine development tasks like writing code, quality control, and API management for AI tasks. Data Scientists need to be up-to-date with new AI technologies and skilled in natural language programming along with strong statistical skills. Certifications in AI and Data Science will help to land a job as a software engineer. Many employers prefer candidates with specialist knowledge of Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS.

Robotics Engineer

Robotics has come a long way from the first industrial robots of the 1950s. Nowadays robotics is used in teaching, healthcare and in the technology behind personal assistants. A robotic engineer is responsible for building and maintaining AI-powered robots. To succeed in this career, organisations require a strong background in Computer Science and AI qualifications. They may also be required to know CAD/CAM, 2D/3D vision systems and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Big Data Engineer/Architect

These professionals are among some of the most sought-after in the AI industry. Big Data Engineers develop and plan the entire big data environment for companies, and they need to be experienced in data mining, data migration and data visualisation. A knowledge of Java, Python, C++ and Scala are preferred skills for a position as a Big Data Engineer.

Many analysts predict a huge skills gap when it comes to AI going forward. At Firebrand, we provide accelerated training that can help bridge this gap, from in-depth overviews for less experienced IT professionals to advanced training for specialists.
