Success story — 28 Firebrand graduates receive job offers after completing Skills Bootcamps

Exciting news! 28 graduates of Firebrand Skills Bootcamps have recently received job offers from Aker Systems, a leader in cloud data infrastructure. The graduates completed Skills Bootcamps in Cyber Security, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering, with many receiving offers before they even graduated.

Aker had previously recruited five new graduates from Firebrand Skills Bootcamps in June this year who had completed Data Technician and Java Technician courses. In the months that followed, Aker were required to fill over 20 Associate Application Support Analyst positions for one of their biggest clients. Aker’s Chief People Officer, Tessa Raum had discussed this demand with Charlie in Firebrand’s Business Development team to see how we could support them with this demand.

To help solve this issue, Firebrand set up a webinar for Skills Bootcamp learners who would have finished their training by the time Aker needed new hires to start. Potential candidates who were deemed security-clearance ready – for example, with the appropriate residential status – were invited to attend interviews with Aker’s Abbie Easton and a technical representative from the Home Office.

The interviews went very well! Out of 34 initial interviews, Aker hired 25 Associate Application Support Analysts and offered three candidates roles as Supervisors.

The new recruits were hired from a mixture of Skills Bootcamps, with the majority completing the Cyber Technician bootcamp. These candidates were given a fantastic opportunity to gain immediate work experience as Application Support Analysts, with the option to build on their bootcamp training and progress to more cyber-related roles in future.

As a result of this recruitment success, Aker Systems is determined to become even more involved in Firebrand Skills Bootcamps going forward. Another day at Firebrand, another skills gap closed!
