EC Council Associate CCISO

New course — Introducing EC-Council Associate C|CISO

The EC-Council Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO) is a widely respected Cyber Security certification that many attempt to achieve. A stumbling block has always been that, to sit the CCISO exam, candidates must demonstrate five years of experience in three of the five CCISO domains.

This autumn, EC-Council are introducing the Associate C|CISO Certification to make this considerably easier. Let's find out more.

Who is C|CISO for?

EC-Council C|CISO helps you develop the skills you need to reach the highest ranks of information security management. You'll learn to adapt your organisation’s information security to ever-changing risks and technologies, providing greater protection.

The course covers 5 domains:

  1. Governance and Risk Management
  2. Information Security Controls, Compliance, and Audit Management
  3. Security Program Management & Operations
  4. Information Security Core Competencies
  5. Strategic Planning, Finance, Procurement, and Vendor Management

Who can take the C|CISO exam?

Anyone can take the C|CISO course; however, to sit the exam, candidates must demonstrate five years of experience in three of the five CCISO domains. This is verified via the EC-Council's exam eligibility application.

Until now, candidates who did not meet this requirement could take the EC-Council Information Security Manager (EISM) exam, acquire industry experience, and then attempt the C|CISO exam. Various university degrees could also be submitted to waive part of the requirements.

Now, EC-Council have simplified the entire process: candidates who do not have five years of domain experience can take the Associate C|CISO certification instead.

What is Associate C|CISO and who is it for?

Similar to C|CISO, the EC-Council Associate C|CISO certification helps Cyber Security professionals develop the skills and knowledge they need for information security leadership.

This course has been specifically designed for candidates who aspire to become C-suite leaders but do not have the minimum 5 years of experience in 3 of the Certified C|CISO domains.

So, what's the difference between C|CISO and Associate C|CISO?

The content of these courses is the same; they cover the same curriculum and cost the same fees.

The only differences are eligibility, discussed above, and the exam.

Candidates who choose the new Associate option rather than the classic C|CISO are able to sit an easier exam at the end, as they have fewer years of experience.

Both exams are rigorous—150 multiple-choice questions—but, while the C|CISO exam assesses three cognitive levels—Knowledge-based, Application-based, and Analysis-based—the Associate C|CISO only assesses the Knowledge- and Application-based.

In that sense, it's 'easier.'

(The subject matter, as anyone who has researched C|CISO will know, is challenging.)

Could you take the Associate C|CISO?

The Associate C|CISO is ideal for all Cyber Security professionals who possess either:
