Mental Health Awareness Week
The week of 15 May is dedicated to Mental Health Awareness.
At Firebrand, we understand that mental health support is vital to our learners' success. Learning can be stressful, especially for conscientious, ambitious people looking to upskill or completely retrain in the field of IT.
We offer one-to-one support and counselling, resilience and growth mindset training, and mental health advice and guidance to a large number of learners. These include techniques to help manage stress and anxiety, such as mindfulness.
Our “Cuppa and a Chat” drop-in sessions are especially popular. They give anyone in need of a sympathetic ear the chance to be listened to. We also run drop-in sessions at our training centre at Wyboston Lakes and will soon be offering them at Cranfield too.
All our learners can access our support, whether they’re taking a short accelerated course, a Skills Bootcamp, or a longer Apprenticeship programme.
Here’s how our learners say this support has helped them.
“[Firebrand] supported me with trouble at home and outside of work. I had someone to talk to and someone who understands and can advise accordingly.”
“I had to ask for an extension to reduce pressure on my medical condition. This helped me incredibly. [Our Learning Support and Welfare Manager,] Venessa was a fantastic listener and very understanding.”
“[At Firebrand, I’ve received] over-the-phone support, Teams calls, texts, extra help with my exam revision. I’m in a better place now. Venessa has helped ease my worries and gave me reassurance and support during the hardest time of my life.”
“On a personal level, Venessa believed in me and pushed to get the best out of me.”
“Firebrand support was extremely helpful and gave me a new avenue to explore. I’m very grateful; it gave me hope for the future!”
Thank you for your feedback!
