Overview
This accelerated FinOps Certified Practitioner course, allows individuals in a large variety of cloud, finance and technology roles to validate their FinOps knowledge and enhance their professional credibility.
You will develop an understanding of FinOps, its practice areas, and how it’s applied to enhance business value from cloud spend. Organizations undergoing a public cloud-first strategy or who are in the midst of a public cloud migration will also benefit greatly.
At the end of this course, you’ll achieve your FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.

This course is ideal for those who plan to hold a position on a FinOps team or support FinOps or cloud financial management, or if you support FinOps teams as consultants, vendors, or trainers.

This module covers why companies have adopted cloud.
- What is FinOps
This module introduces the practice of FinOps.
- FinOps Framework & Principles
This module focuses on important operational concepts related to FinOps practice.
- FinOps Personas & Teams
In this module, you will learn about the different stakeholders a FinOps team works with.
- FinOps Domains & Capabilities
This module covers the six domains of FinOps capabilities.
- Motivations & Common Language
FinOps capabilities are the WHAT of FinOps. In this section we cover the six categories of FinOps capabilities and how the match up to the FinOps lifecycle.
- Anatomy of a Cloud Bill
In this module, you will learn about the massive amount of information presented in the Cloud Bill.
- Running a FinOps Team
This module covers the basic elements of running a FinOps team.
- FinOps Inform Phase
In the Inform Phase, we create and use the tags/labels, account hierarchy and other taxonomy we created to allocate all costs in order to get a near-real time view of our current cloud usage.
- FinOps Optimize Phase
In the optimize phase we target, define, and document optimization opportunities.
- FinOps Operate Phase
The Operate Phase is where we take action to achieve the goals (from Optimize) and the company’s internal processes are engaged.
- Maturing FinOps
At the end of this lesson you will be able to describe methods to build success in a FinOps practice.
Exam Track
At the end of this accelerated course, you’ll sit the following exam at the Firebrand Training centre, covered by your Certification Guarantee:

- Format: 50 multiple choice questions, not proctored
- Passing score: 75%
What's Included
Prerequisites
Before attending this accelerated course, you should:
- Understand the basics of how cloud computing works, know the key services on your cloud providers, including their common use cases, and have a basic understanding of billing and pricing models.
- Be able to describe the basic value proposition of running in cloud and understand the core concept of using a pay-as-you-go consumption model.
- Have a base level of knowledge of at least one of the three main public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). For AWS, we recommend AWS Business Professional training or, even better, the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.
