Overview
Gain the skills to create advanced mobile applications for the Google Play Store on this 3 day accelerated Android App Development course.
This hands-on course will focus you on learning the techniques to develop Android apps compatible with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and up. This includes topics on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and material design. You will be fully immersed in mobile app development, writing and running code throughout the course.
Your accelerated Android app development training will prepare you to create applications that can integrate with other Android apps, download and display pictures from the web, play sounds, and much more.
You will cover a range of exciting topics which include:
- Using Android Studio to develop and debug Android applications
- Applying styles and themes to your application
- Communicating between and within Android applications using Intents
- Building complex applications using multiple activities and fragments

Curriculum
You will cover the following topics
- Debugging Android applications with with Android Studio
- Build flexible user interfaces for multiple device categories
- Create complex applications using multiple activities and fragments
- Use Intents to communicate between and within Android applications
- Create Services to represent behind the scenes aspects of your application
- Use RecyclerView and custom layouts to display scrolling lists and grids
- Learn to manage rotation and low-memory instances
- Parse and display JSON from RESTful web services
- Use HandlerThread, AsyncTask and Services to background long running work
- Display search views, dialogs, toolbars and other Android interface idioms
- Listen and react to touch events
- Take pictures and store them with the Camera.
- Persist your application's data using SQLite
- Create custom views
- Determine device location and display that information on a map.
- Use styles and themes to create engaging user interfaces

Prerequisites
A working knowledge of Java is expected. Excellent typing skills are also recommended to successfully complete this course.
